I find it hard to write something about Africa. Something can be anything and the number of potential subjects is great, just as great as the continent. I also realise that I can’t justify a whole Africa through my experience. I mean, look at it this way: let’s say that you are from…

I have finally pushed myself to work on edit of my very first project. Autobiography (it is a working title) was shoot in Poland in 2003 - 2004, when I did not know much about photography, apart from the fact that I really like it.

As for now, it is great to shoot a lot again. Third Floor Gallery seems to be a natural project to do, but my ambitions are also somewhere else…

By the way, we are crazy busy over there at the moment! We are working on Rob Hornstra’s and Joseph Rodriguez’s exhibitions, preparing for the gallery’s anniversary (stay tuned) and other exiting secret for now projects.

Today we are having STAND UP SLIDESHOW, so anybody who want to show his pictures to us, and have a discussion about them, should pop in to the gallery at 7pm. Surely we will have fun!

The photo agency asked for more violence in my pictures. Violence sells magazines. One picture ran today in The New York Times: the two and a half year old in the coffin at the funeral. I was really depressed. I can’t understand why one must always show violence or famine to be recognized as an accomplished photojournalist. You’re always questioning yourself. One of the things you realize is that you are always are missing something; you can’y photograph everything. Who am I talking to? It gets hard to gain perspective. Weeks go by and I get these contact sheets (of the previous weeks’ work), and they look like shit to me. I know now that I must go back to continue with the families. Have to get closer.
